Student Success Corner
The SSIS Student Success Center (SSC) continues to play a central role in supporting students’ academic progress, well-being,
and sense of belonging. While remote advising remains a highly utilized and accessible option, the demand for in-person
appointments and drop-in support has grown steadily. Now in its eighth year, the SSC has become a well-known and trusted
resource for students, dedicated to timely degree completion, graduate school preparation, and post-graduation planning.
Holistic Support and High Engagement
In AY 2024-2025, SSC staff supported students who were navigating a wide range of personal, financial, medical, and psychological
challenges by strengthening their holistic advising approach and deepening collaborations with campus partners. The SSC team,
comprised of professional staff, graduate interns, student assistants, and Faculty Fellows, recorded over 4,700 student contacts.
Although the SSIS Faculty Fellows for Student Success Program concluded in Fall 2024, the SSC introduced a new model to
support faculty advisors through refresher trainings and Q&A sessions to ensure continued communication and consistency. The
remarkable volume of student support is possible only through the dedication of our counseling graduate interns, Peer Success
Leaders, and front desk student assistants. Their contributions remain essential to the Center’s success, and we are extremely
grateful for their commitment.
