College Highlights
Sociology End-of-the-Year Celebration
The Sociology Department, in
collaboration with Soc Club, SOC Circle,
and the Sociology Alumni Network, and
the Alumni Center, hosted its second
annual End-of-the-Year Celebration at
the Global Lounge on April 30, 2025.
Sac State alumni Magali Kincaid and
John Kincaid ‘05 (Sociology) were
keynote speakers for the event and
more than 120 attendees enjoyed this
powerful and motivational event. In
addition, the event was an opportunity
to recognize current students, alumni,
faculty, staff, and emeritus faculty who
have made significant contributions
to the Department of Sociology,
Sac State, and in their communities.
Olivia Schlanger Sodhi, of the Alumni
Association, kindly agreed to capture

Western Positive Psychology Association Conference
The 9th Annual Western Positive Psychology Association Conference (WPPA) was
held at Sac State from April 4 - 6, 2025. Psychology faculty Dr. Meliksah Demir was the
Academic Faculty Conference Chair and the conference was sponsored by The Rekhi
Singh Foundation, the Leader and Organization Vitality (LOV) Lab/LOV Center, and the
Department of Psychology. The conference welcomed presenters and attendees from
the US western region, plus Europe, Canada, Korea, and more.
Dr. Greg Hurtz’s students, Senon Rivera, Lily Vang, Z Zulfhar, and Miguel Leonardo
Dela Cruz Alcantara, received 2nd place in the Rikhi Singh Foundation Poster Award
for Academic Research Excellence for their poster Measuring Profiles of Perceived
“Performance” across Multiple Life Role Domains.
